Paws

I will be taking a "pause" from posting this week. We found out last weekend that our "only child", Ginger (affectionately known as Gigi), has a brain tumor. It has been a tough week, but she seems to be tolerating her medication well enough that she will be starting chemotherapy on Monday. She is a perfect little angel and has brought so much love and joy into our lives.

Please send her little well wish thoughts.

  2. Oh, le pauvre! I shall keep your little one in my long list of prayer and she looks like a strong willed gal. I have a close friend who survived such an ordeal and is an amazing person. Swimming really helped her.

As for sketching, try to practice as much "life" or gesture drawing.
See if there is one spot you can go to, a park or a place where you can "people watch" and practice. I spend an inordinate amount of time looking.

If only we all could embrace Ginger's attitude...loving, loyal, and so full of life. I have been blessed by many of her sweet licks and I hope to have more of those in the time to come. Get well, darling Gigi!!

  8. Give her a big hug, lots and lots of them.Thank you Dana for your kind words and thoughts. I am sorry that this has happened to Ginger, it's so terribly hard to see our pets suffer as we know that we are responsible for them and they need us so much, as we do them. I will be thinking of you. XO and xo

  9. I almost crept quietly away when I discovered I have found you in the middle of such an anxious time. Instead may I offer my very best wishes for your little Ginger and everyone who loves her. Our 17 year old Snowy has put us through so many anxious medical times and has proved herself braver and tougher than us. Ginger looks like she too is made of the right stuff.

  11. Dana,

I know your heart is aching. Sweet little Gigi is a strong girl and with your love and care, she will make it through.

I've never understood why the little ones we cherish so deeply have to suffer so badly. Their pure goodness and unconditional love should be reward enough to live healthy for eternity. It's just not fair.

    I'm sorry...

Wishing you and Gigi much comfort,
    Melissa

  14. Thank you one and all for your kind words, thoughts and well wishes. I am touched by them all.
Gigi is a real trooper. We are not giving up on her! We have had many "scares" over the last 13 years, but this is the most frightening ... but as many of you suggested - she is strong and made of the right stuff!
Leslie, she is a Miniature Pinscher. They are not Miniature Dobermans - as some think - but a 200 year old breed from a Dachshund and Italian Greyhound. Very strong willed, loyal and thrive on attention from their owners. Needless to say, she is getting more hugs and kisses than ever - if that is possible!
Thanks for keeping her in your thoughts!
