I will be taking a "pause" from posting this week. We found out last weekend that our "only child", Ginger (affectionately known as Gigi), has a brain tumor. It has been a tough week, but she seems to be tolerating her medication well enough that she will be starting chemotherapy on Monday. She is a perfect little angel and has brought so much love and joy into our lives.

Please send her little well wish thoughts.

  1. Oh, I'm so sorry to hear about your sweet girl. I hope she does well on the chemo. Sending her lots of good healing thoughts...

  2. Oh, le pauvre! I shall keep your little one in my long list of prayer and she looks like a strong willed gal. I have a close friend who survived such an ordeal and is an amazing person. Swimming really helped her.

As for sketching, try to practice as much "life" or gesture drawing.
See if there is one spot you can go to, a park or a place where you can "people watch" and practice. I spend an inordinate amount of time looking.

  3. Thanks for your thoughts and prayers.
..and thanks for your advise and encouraging words on both, pve!!

If only we all could embrace Ginger's attitude...loving, loyal, and so full of life. I have been blessed by many of her sweet licks and I hope to have more of those in the time to come. Get well, darling Gigi!!

  5. Aunt DD...I am sorry about Ginger. Remember that I am praying for her and I love you both a lot.

  6. Little Gigi, I hope you are feeling better today. I hope you are taking your medicine so you can come stay with me soon. Be especially good today because it is ------------------------------

  7. Sending her hugs and prayers!!! And a big birthday hug for Dana too.

  8. Give her a big hug, lots and lots of them.Thank you Dana for your kind words and thoughts. I am sorry that this has happened to Ginger, it's so terribly hard to see our pets suffer as we know that we are responsible for them and they need us so much, as we do them. I will be thinking of you. XO and xo

  9. I almost crept quietly away when I discovered I have found you in the middle of such an anxious time. Instead may I offer my very best wishes for your little Ginger and everyone who loves her. Our 17 year old Snowy has put us through so many anxious medical times and has proved herself braver and tougher than us. Ginger looks like she too is made of the right stuff.

  10. Sweet Dana~
Your Gigi is so precious. I am so sorry she is having such a hard time. She knows how much you love her and that is what matters most! Your beautiful blog will carry her name forever as will your heart carry her love. Kiss & hug her every chance you get.
    Happy Birthday!!!!
    Your friend,

  11. Dana,

I know your heart is aching. Sweet little Gigi is a strong girl and with your love and care, she will make it through.

I've never understood why the little ones we cherish so deeply have to suffer so badly. Their pure goodness and unconditional love should be reward enough to live healthy for eternity. It's just not fair.

    I'm sorry...

Wishing you and Gigi much comfort,

Dana, I am so very sorry to learn of Gigi's illness. The photo of her moved me to tears. I will be thinking of all of you today.
    Take care,
    Laura F.

  13. Dana, I am so sad to hear about your Gigi. I know how crazy you both are over her. I will be sending her well wishes and thinking of you all today.
What kind of doggie is she?

  14. Thank you one and all for your kind words, thoughts and well wishes. I am touched by them all.
Gigi is a real trooper. We are not giving up on her! We have had many "scares" over the last 13 years, but this is the most frightening ... but as many of you suggested - she is strong and made of the right stuff!
Leslie, she is a Miniature Pinscher. They are not Miniature Dobermans - as some think - but a 200 year old breed from a Dachshund and Italian Greyhound. Very strong willed, loyal and thrive on attention from their owners. Needless to say, she is getting more hugs and kisses than ever - if that is possible!
Thanks for keeping her in your thoughts!

  15. Oh, I'm so sorry to hear that! They do become real family members, and it's so hard to have to watch them struggle. I hope she will do well through it all. Poor sweet one. Her portrait here is so elegant! I wish her all the best.

Your blog is beautiful! thank you for your visits to my blog as well, and I wish you much joy with it.

  16. How are you going, Little Ginger? Been thinking about you.

  17. Robyn, thanks for your thoughts. They are very much appreciated! Little Ginger is doing really well so far. She is a tough one!
I will be giving an update later in the week. I hope things continue to go well for the little darling.
