My parents were married on June 2, 1962. In 1978 my family was in tragic car accident, taking my father's life at the young age of 43. Today they would have celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary.
Their wedding invitation and note cards were engraved in English script. Looking at their invitation, I wondered why the year was not noted, but saw that Princess Grace nor Jacqueline Kennedy had the year of their wedding engraved on their invitations ... so I looked into it and saw that the year is surprisingly not essential.
...but I found it was included on the cocktail napkin from their reception.
I wanted to take time today to remember what would have been another special moment in my parent's lives.
A poignant post...thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteDana, a very special heartfelt post. Your dad not only lost his life at a young age, but you had to be young to lose your dad. A very difficult time for you and your family. I bet there is one very bright star not only watching over you, but very proud too. Thank you for sharing their special day with us. Big hugs my friend. xo
ReplyDeleteBeautiful post Dana! Sending hugs your way!

ReplyDeleteI'm so sorry for such a great loss in your life, Dana; this is a heartfelt post. Today is the day before Father's Day. (I am spending this morning reading all the posts I have missed in the past several weeks), and I imagine you feel his loss always, but especially on Father's Day. I love the expressions on your parents' faces. Every bride would love to have her groom smile thusly after the vows have been given! :) xo
ReplyDeleteThanks, Jane. I appreciate your sweet words. xo~
